Job Description :
Role & Responsibilities
Purpose: – The candidate is expected to lead the Product Management function for the Fine Chemicals Business of LCD in managing Product Portfolio ,Product Brand and Line Marketing , Product Life Cycle, New Business Development , Product Training and growing business revenue from the product portfolio.
Product Portfolio Management:

  • Full Product Portfolio Analysis by microsegments ,market segment and customer segment
  • NPI – Introduction of new products
  • Discontinuation of end of life products
  • Managing product Mix and Profitability
  • Develop new applications of existing products
  • Identifying new customers /customer segments for existing products
  • Providing technical support for product line and applications
  • Scout for new sources based on competitive benchmarking and market /customer needs
  • Expand product portfolio through locally sourced product
  • Develop micro -segment focus by working closely with global PM team on identified range
  • Ownership of complete portfolio for revenue and profitability

Product Pricing:

  • Create the annual price book with support from global team on T/P and competitive benchmarking
  • Develop pricing for Locally sourced product with help of sourcing
  • Obtain special pricing from global team on bulk catalog items
  • Support Sales team /CSR team on pricing for quotes
  • Update and maintain pricing in SAP /Website
  • Review pricing periodically against competition for bench marking

Product Operations:

  • Product Code Creation: Create new product codes for SCS Bulk introductions and extension of Catalog Products for India with help of sourcing and quality team through inputs of supplier quotation, Specifications, MSDS via MDM process
  • Product re-packing /relabeling: Lead and guide Operations and QC team for Product repacking and relabeling
  • Product Specifications: Ownership of Product Specification including creation, modification and updating
  • Product Maintenance: Own Product record including Code, HSN, Specifications, MSDS and support data management in SAP /Website
  • Product Hierarchy: Update product hierarchy for NPI as per Global PLG guidelines
  • Products on website: Add and update products and product specifications on website
  • E&O Liquidation: Identify list of E&O and develop liquidation plans
  • Regulatory: Lead and Manage block and unblock of products in SAP /Website by working closely with Regulatory and Compliance team

Managing Relationships with Regional Sales Team Inside Sales Team and Marketing team

  • Work closely with Regional Sales team in mapping the market and identifying potential accounts
  • Leading joint discussions with Regional Teams in joint customer discussions
  • Provide Product support to Regional teams for product and price
  • Partnering with FCP Business Development Team and Inside Sales for Bulk supplies
  • Working closely with Marketing team for segment and product promotion including digital marketing
  • Create a pipeline of opportunity to grow the business over the next 3 years

Managing the Product Availability

  • Supports SCM planning team in ensuring Products Forecast and Supplies
  • Seeking collaboration with global CS team for pricing and supplies.
  • Working closely with regulatory team to ensure compliance.
  • Working on escalations with logistics team for material deliveries
  • Close association with operations team for product labelling and documents
  • Collaboration with sourcing team for Locally Sourced Products
  • Working with suppliers directly in developing new products /specifications

Technical Support and Quality Management

  • Own product specifications and support Sales team in technical matters related to product code, offerings, specifications and application suitability against competition
  • Conduct Product Training for Sales Team and support in new business development
  • Support sourcing team in identifying new applications and new Product candidates
  • Develop new brochures, web content to support Sales Team and Customers for product visibility
  • Work closely with Quality team at global and local level for specifications adherence
  • Ownership of Quality Complaints and Management of CCMS process
  • Work closely with customer, Quality team, sales team, sourcing and CSR team to resolve quality issues
  • Support FCP SCS team for all product matters relating to Bulk products
  • Work closely with customers for new business development in understanding needs of customers and proposing applicable product

Candidate Requirement:

  • Education & Experience levels:
  • Ph.D. /master’s in chemistry
  • Core understanding of product portfolio management skills and responsibilities
  • Product Pricing is essential
  • Strong knowledge in Chemistry: Organic and In Organic Chemistry and applications
  • Understanding of applications and uses of product chemistry matching those applications
  • Market understanding based on applications and micro segments
  • Strong Market and Business Development experience
  • Experience in competitive benchmarking and competition product portfolio
  • Business Reporting Skills, excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Prior experience in leading successful Product Campaigns
  • Understanding of digital marketing
  • Ability to lead multifunctional projects and experience in working with supporting functions

Nature of experience: 10-15 years of Product management /Product Marketing and or 8-10 years of hard core business /marketing development experience in Specialty Products .6-10 years’ experience in product development . Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time.
Must have strong chemistry background including chemistry ,application and uses
Market Knowledge is essential
Knowledge Required: In-depth understanding of Product Chemistry ,Customers ,Competition and applications and products offered
Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, Expert in Microsoft (PowerPoint & Excel), Demonstrated proactive approach working in matrix organization, Strong people influencing skills, Understanding of Product Management Process and Business Development , Knowledge of product strategy
