Security Business Group (SBG) is an outstanding team of software engineers who focus on understanding and trouble-shooting enlightened security problems encountered by various Cisco customers worldwide. They seek the hardest of the hard problems found in customer environments every day. The blocking issue engineer position is technically very fast-paced and requires very strong problem-solving skills. It challenges one’s theoretical knowledge with situations warranting real-time analysis and live debugging of the problem and provides a smart and intelligent workaround and or solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:Identifies, influences, and drives product improvement initiatives
Be the engineering focal point for identifying and resolving customer issues. Ability to handle, diffuse urgent and serious customer engagements.
Determining appropriate problem diagnosis strategies and optimally communicate steps for further trouble-shooting across multiple security technologiesProactively address customer concerns and prevent problems from arising
Provide critical feedback to engineers on design and functional specifications for product usability, serviceability, and reliabilityMentor others through one-on-one and formal training
Must be Strategic approach and work well with senior engineers and the team.
Ability to effectively present sophisticated technical concepts to a wide audienceInitiates long-term strategic goals and works toward implementation
Partners with management to make strategic decisions. Makes project-level decisions independentlySpecific requirements:
Strong understanding and firewall technology experience (ACLs, stateful packet inspection, traffic filtering, NAT/PAT), Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), ideally with Cisco’s Firewall products.
Very proven general networking skills, with knowledge of and experience with networking protocols at all levels of the protocol stack, covering architecture, design, implementation, expansion, and troubleshooting of enterprise-level secure networks.
Hands- on Experience with sophisticated software debugging techniques and usage of tools such as gdb, trace/ktrace, tcpdump, wireshark, other Linux utilities, and memory profiling tools
Out-standing skills and experience working with customers, including in the most volatile situations.
At least a BE in computer science or engineering, electronics and communication engineering, information technology, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
10-15 years of technical experience in the workforce.
At least 4-5 years of Confirmed experience with computer networking and security domain with firewalls or VPNs.
Solid understanding of Linux.
Excellent social skills: written and spoken (on the phone and in-person).Additional qualifications:
Good working experience of programming languages such as C++/Objective-C/Java, or similar procedural language (Perl or Python- scripting experience will also be valuable), or experience in QA, Databases. Ideally with an emphasis on trouble-shooting or test automation.
CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE (with security focus)
